Sunday Social

I'm linking up today with the 'Sunday Social'

This weeks questions
1. What is the name of your blog?
Chores and Chandeliers
I love the juxtaposition of Chores and Chandeliers.
I think it fits me well, for instance…..
I have chickens but the coop has pillars, shutters, and a wreath
My smelly horse barn has a red chandelier
I LOVE Jewelry and it is displayed on an old screen door.
I have old beat up wood floors, but I painted them with a chevron stripe!

2. What do you love most about blogging?
The creative outlet AND the relationships I've made

3. Why did you start blogging?
To share my projects.
I also had many people asking me too.

4. What is something you'd want to tell someone just starting out in the blog world?
Have fun and don't stress about it!
You're the boss of your blog.
Blog about what you enjoy.
If you don't have time to blog THAT IS FINE!!!!

5. Biggest blogging learning experience you've had?
Hmmmm....I've only had one negative experience.
Another blogger shared my chicken coop and other people REALLY TORE ME APART,
saying how I was shallow and wasteful to have such a cute chicken coop.
I wanted to defend myself and tell  that is was all recycled materials and was NOT AN EXPENSIVE project!
BUT I quickly learned they didn't want to hear it,  they just wanted to tear me down.
So I had to learn that to let their options go.
People can be harsh and say really mean things when they can hide behind a computer screen!

6. What are three blogs you love?

painted baby blanket

My oldest cowgirl was very excited to find out (via facebook)
that one of her preschool teachers had her grandbaby this weekend.
She asked if she could give a "goodie bag" to her teacher.
I have received one or two of these "goodie bags".
They are filled with whatever she finds around the house.
Not the most practical gifts but I LOVE HER GIVING HEART.
So of course I told her,
"absolutely, but how about I help you pick out the stuff so it is extra special".
This morning when she woke up the first thing she said was,
"don't forget we need to make a goodie bag".
So before school we headed down to the basement to look through my gift totes.
{When something is on sale I pick it up. If you don't have a stash of gifts you need to start making one!  It is a life saver, and money saver.}
We decided on photo album and a blanket.
The photo album was for her teacher to put pictures of her grandBABIES in.
My cowgirl felt bad for the other granddaughter,
she wanted to make sure that they BOTH were recognized!
{Awe how sweet!}

Now on to the blanket.....
It was super soft and cuddly and would have been just fine the way it was.
BUT we decided that we should personalize it.
So we painted it.
Yep you can paint blankets.  {Heck you can paint anything}
It is so easy.  I just free handed it.
All you need is acrylic paint, a paint brush and water.
Once it is all painted just "paint" over the letters with WATER {not paint}
This will give it a smoother finish and sent the paint into the fabric!
I love how it turned out.  It look less then 15 minutes to make.
SO MUCH EFFORT GOES INTO PICKING THE PERFECT NAME FOR A BABY!
Who doesn't want to advertise which beautiful name they chose.
And this name is BEAUTIFUL!!!!
**Everleigh**
I LOVE IT!!!

1 day flash sale on amazing photos...by a true artist!!!

It is that time of year again.
The time when you start thinking about family photos & Christmas cards.
Well just in time a friend of mine is offering an amazing special.
It is a flash sale in honor of her 33 birthday.
{a $33 dollar special for her 33rd, catchy huh}
It is a funny story how we met.
We actually switched home towns (she lives in mine and I now live in hers)
and through small town chatter we soon heard about each other.
Then through the help of social media we connected
and now I feel lucky enough to call her a friend.
She is an amazing photographer NO I take that back, she is an amazing artist.
The term photographer is used loosely now days.
She is a true master of her craft.
Her photos are each a piece of art.
She takes into consideration composition, subject, light, etc into each frame.
The artist in me LOVES this about her photos.
I enjoy looking at each and every one of her shots.
She also connects with her clients on a personal level
and is able to catch images that truly represent who they are!!!!!
If you want some fabulous photos of yourself or your family
and live in North Central Nebraska or Central Nerbaska Now is your chance!!!!
TODAY ONLY Katrina Lee Photography is offering a 33 minute session for only $33.

Kelsey and I are going to take a small break and then we will start back up with another link up.
It may be monthly, by monthly, etc.  We are not 100% sure.

So be sure to follow both Kelsey and I to see when and what the new link up will all entail.

back to school teacher gifts

It is that time again.
You see photos all over facebook of kids heading back to school.
My oldest cowgirl is no exception.
Tonight  we have an open house at her preschool {school starts tomorrow}
So today we whipped up a few gifts to take to her teachers tonight {She has 3 teachers}
I found some little polish and let her pick out color for each teacher.
I then came up with a saying to make them a back-to-school gift.
I came up with,
"I had a great summer, but now it is time to POLISH up on my schooling"
We them packaged them up.  It was SOOOO EASY!
All you need is some snack bags, stapler, and make a 'tent' out of cardstock.
{I made mine in a WORD doc, nothing fancy}
You simple staple the bottom of the tent to hide the seal on the plastic snack bag.
And you are DONE!!!!  It is that easy!!!
We love her preschool teachers!!!!  We are so blessed!

You can see the May Baskets we made the teachers last year here.

Pallet sign

I was asked by some lovely ladies from the local MOPS organization
to make a sign for them to display at the meetings.
They wanted something that would portray the theme for the upcoming year.
They wanted a hand painted sign that was somewhat rustic.
They gave me no real guidelines other then the wording.
This is what I came up with.
What do you think???
I used a small pallet and used 4 of the slats and attached them together to make the sign.
I then freehanded the words.
No stencils for me {That is to many rules for me to follow}
I like just filling the spaces as it is needed.

I am often asked how I do the wording all freehand.
Well the secret is...............
CHALK!
I write all over the board with a piece of chalk to set out my guide lines and the word spacing.
It looks like a mess but it does the trick and wipes of clean with a damp cloth!
 I can't wait to show the ladies this.
It was so fun to do and I am honored they asked me to do it!
