summer is here...finally!!!

Thank you summer you are FINALLY here!!!!
So far this summer has been crazy busy.
This past week has been much needed!!!!
No running around like a crazy person.
Of course there is always something to do, someplace to be and stuff to get done.
But this week has been at a nice pace.
We had friends come out to visit, baseball games, pool days and a little yard work too.
We even got up and went for walks in the mornings.
We even found a turtle on one of our walks.
The past few weeks I wouldn’t have even notice the turtle
I was rushing from place to place so fast.
We brought the little guy (gal???) home the girls played with him till he wondered off.
The Hubs even had time to go for a late night evening walk one night this week.

I have not mentioned my stepson {I’ll refer to him as S} much on here yet.
He is the handsome teenager in our family picture in my header photo.
He is here for the summer.  He comes up every summer.
We love having him here!
He is the BEST big brother ever!!!!
For real, the cowgirls are super lucky to have him.
Don’t get me wrong the words,
“S, Leave them alone” come out of my mouth multiple times a day.
He picks on them till the scream but they love him to pieces and they both now know
that when they are in trouble they should run to S, he will always comfort them.
Since he has been here he has been knocking things off the Hub’s to-do list!
He has been a busy boy, getting up early (well early for a 13 year old boy)
the past couple weeks to get work done around the place.
He knows that if he doesn’t he won’t get to run around with his friends.
Although his recent running around has meant going to the batting cages
in town for a couple hours in the afternoon when I run errands.
He loves baseball, I mean LOVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This year has been a bit rough {but that is part of baseball too}.
We are calling it a learning year and looking at the positive!
Thursday night was his last regular season game.
It went into extra innings. S pitched the last inning.
It stresses me out to watch but I know he loves the thrill.
Here they are with their rally caps on.
We have tournaments early next week and baseball is DONE for the season.
Wow we are going to have free evenings?!?!?!

I am excited for the rest of the summer.
This weekend we have 4 BBQ’s to go too!
I don’t know if that is considered slowing down huh???

Have a wonderful summer and take the time to slow down and notice the turtles!

So if you see a theme and you would like to blog about it PLEASE link up with us!!!!

This week’s theme is…
your go-to-outfit

Mine is more go-to-items (I have 3).
denim jackets
dresses
cowboy boots

I wear different jackets, boots and dresses but this combo is definitely my go-to.
I wear this combo to weddings, church, date nights, dances, BBQ’s, showers, etc.

I don’t always wear all 3 together.
But 75% of the time I can be found in at least ONE of these items!
My denim jackets make the rotation A LOT; I wear them with just about everything!!!!
In the summer I’ll wear a dress and sandals (or bare foot) often.
I obviously wear cowboy boots and jeans too.

And my go to accessories would easily be hats and headband!
(Although I do love my scarves, necklaces and bracelets too!)

I’m really looking forward to seeing what everyone else’s go to outfit is.
Don’t have time today??
That’s no problem the link is open for 6 days!

Last minute Fathers day gifts!!!

I am a procrastinator to a fault!
So today I started to think about Fathers Day gifts!
Every year I take a photo of the kiddos and we give him that
but I always like to give him something else too.
So I posted on facebook for ideas and a friend said "do something homemade" so I quickly
(and I mean quickly) through together a cute fathers day gift with the picture we took today.
(In the front yard as he was mowing the back yard)
Yeah I'm not much for planning!!!!
When I grow up I am going to be so much more organized!  Ha Ha

This is the picture I took.
I wanted a vintage look so I used Picmonkey.com to edit it to fade it out some.
I then went and grabbed some old wooden shingles.
We have piles laying around that the Hubs attempted to burn and I saved as many as I could!
This year he will thank me :)
I printed out the picture onto normal printer paper, nothing fancy.
I printed 2 just in case one didn't turn out!
I next tore the paper to fit the shingle.
I flipped the paper over and sprayed with a permanent spray adhesive,
making sure to get the edged good.
I then just pressed it onto the shingle and rubbed the edges down nicely.
I added some burlap to tie a bow around it.
The last step was to add to hanger.
I simply hot glued it down.
And it's done!!!  I LOVE IT!!!
I can't wait to give it to him so I can hang it up!

This fathers day will be a good one.
Some great friends are coming to visit!!!
And We will have a wonderful meal with them!
The 4 year old cowgirl wants to make cupcakes to fathers day also.
It will be a special day.
What are your fathers day plans???

Suzie Cow & Chuck

Things out here are always changing.
We have gained a few new animals over the past weekend.
7 to be exact

My dad picked up the cutest Holstein calf 2 years ago.
He was at an auction on a dreary rainy day
and this little calf sold for next to nothing so he picked it up for me.
We loved on her for the first year but he took her back to AI (artificial inseminate) her.
We ran different cattle in the pastures last year but this past weekend he brought her back.
This is her….

Wow she has grown!!!
I bet you can’t guess her name!  (Thanks dad)
My 4 year old cowgirl calls her “Suzie Cow”.
Luckily it isn’t spelled like my name (Suzi).
I guess it was easier to give her a name then a number  :/ ?

She went down in the trailer on the trip here.  It was SO HARD to get her out and up!
Needless to say we had to use a tow strap and a 4-wheeler to pull her out of the trailer.
It was quite the ordeal!
(I won’t go into much detail; I don’t need PETA hijacking my blog! Ha Ha)
But she is now doing great!!!!

Dad also brought up her calf.  Isn’t she adorable!
Did you see her ear tag???
Chuck……Yep that’s my dad’s name.
So this cute little lady is named Chuck!
We tried to give her a different name
but when her tag says Chuck you just have to go with it!

Since she is a Holstein she is a nurse cow for us!!!
She currently has 3 calves on her.
Their mommas were unable to provide enough milk for them.
They are all sweet little calve but I do have a favorite…shhhh
Isn’t he cute?
He is my favorite because he matched my little redheads! :)

Oh and we also have 2 little pigs Dad dropped off.
They are unnamed; I’m thinking Sausage and Pork Chop sound good tho! ;)
